Books

Some of the books written by our faculty members are presented below.

Number Theory

Ahmet Şükrü Özdemir

This book is a textbook prepared for our students in the Abstract Algebra and Number Theory and Elementary Number Theory courses, which are taught in the Mathematics Departments and Departments of the Faculty of Science, Literature and Education of our Universities, to fill the gaps in their fields.

In the book, first the definitions and theorems about the subjects are tried to be established, and then their relationships with daily life are tried to be established, and the exercises are chosen accordingly.

Artificial Neural Networks in Academic Success Prediction

Elif Bahadır & Ahmet Şükrü Özdemir

The importance of scientific success predictions in terms of being aware of the risks that life brings, walking forward with firmer steps and stability is accepted all over the world. It is becoming increasingly difficult for individuals to adapt to the changes of the rapidly developing world, manage the competition and turn the changes into advantages in their careers. Considering the efforts towards career development at the adult level, it is important for young people to be able to adapt to these changes and make healthy and productive decisions about life. Although there are many prediction techniques used to predict the future, artificial intelligence technologies have also been used for prediction purposes in recent years. Artificial neural networks, one of the artificial intelligence technologies, have enabled successful applications in the field of future prediction.21. The 21st century is expressed as a period in which major and rapid changes took place in social, individual, political and economic fields due to technological development and globalization. In this period, it is an undeniable fact that predictions of success in all areas of life significantly affect our future. Artificial neural networks, which are used for predictive modeling in almost all areas of life, are a powerful predictive tool for predicting academic success. However, it does not receive the attention it deserves in academic success prediction. The book you are reviewing is a study that introduces artificial neural networks and also includes an application for academic success prediction made with multilayer sensors, one of the most widely used artificial neural networks. We hope that artificial neural networks applications will serve widespread use in predicting academic success...

A Historical Review of Secondary School Mathematics Curriculums

Mehmet Fatih Özmantar, Hatice Akkoç, Bilge Kuşdemir & Kayıran Melike Özyurt

Studies carried out in the field of education programs in our country show significant developments in both quality and quantity every day. It is seen that, especially in recent years, field educators have also contributed to our knowledge in this field, as well as researchers in the field of curriculum and instruction (EPT). Considering the field of mathematics education, it can be said that the interest in curriculum increased with the change that took place in 2005. In addition, the fact that program update studies have increased in recent years and have come to our social agenda more frequently is another reason for the increasing interest in this field. In order for the changes and/or updates in mathematics curriculum to be effective, we need to apply what we have learned from our previous program development studies. Otherwise, we will miss the development opportunity offered to us by all our years of program development and implementation experience.
Based on these thoughts, in the book you are holding in your hands, a comparative historical analysis of the secondary school mathematics curriculum implemented throughout the history of the Republic has been carried out. We hope and hope that this study will lead to the recognition of the programs that have shaped secondary school mathematics teaching practices in our country in the recent past and will contribute to future program development studies.

STEM-An Innovative Teaching Approach

K. Arif KIRKIÇ & Emin AYDIN (ED)

The STEM (Science-Technology-Engineering-Mathematics) approach, which has spread rapidly around the world in recent years, has become popular in our country in the past five years. Discussing and examining this popular dissemination without taking on trendy features will help STEM prevent the situation that has happened to similar approaches in the past. There was a need to write a basic introduction book for teachers and academics interested in the STEM approach, which was introduced to the world of education and became widespread through the studies carried out by various universities and educational institutions. The book was designed to meet this need and is offered for the benefit of all interested educators.

Teknolojik Pedagojik Alan Bilgisi Temelli Olasılık ve İstatistik Öğretimi

Hatice AKKOÇ & Sibel YEŞİLDERE İMRE

When the mathematics education literature is examined, it is seen that students experience various difficulties in learning concepts related to probability and statistics, and different teaching methods have been brought to the agenda to overcome these difficulties.

Among these, technology-supported probability and statistics teaching comes to the fore. It is important to create technology-supported resources for teachers and develop the necessary pedagogical knowledge and skills to transform these resources into an effective teaching tool.

This book study aims to provide a resource that aims to improve the technological pedagogical field knowledge of mathematics teachers regarding the concepts of probability and statistics, in line with the mentioned needs, and to encourage the widespread and effective use of technology-supported probability and statistics teaching by teachers.

DESIGN AND CONDUCTION OF MIXED METHODS RESEARCH

Writers: JOHN W. CRESWELL - VICKI L. PLANO CLARK

Translation: Emin Aydın, Esra Bukova Güzel, Murat Bursal, Sencer Çorlu, Yüksel Dede, Ali Delice, Selçuk Beşir Demir, Fatih Güngör, M.Serdar Köksal, Semiha Kula, Murat Peker

Quantitative and qualitative research both have strengths and weaknesses. For this reason, in recent years, many researchers have been conducting studies using mixed methods designs. This book is both a primer and a detailed assessment of how a mixed methods study should be conducted.

This work, which discusses in detail issues such as the nature of mixed method research, theoretical and philosophical foundations, patterns, data collection process, analysis, interpretation and reporting, is among the main reference sources in the field of mixed methods research.

Assessment and Support of Development and Learning in Early Childhood

Writers: Oralie Mcafee , Deborah J. Leong

Translation:Hatice Akkoç, Birsen Ekinci, Gönül Sakız, Şadiye Keleş

Evaluations carried out during education and training processes in classroom environments are the most important element of the early childhood learning and teaching process. Having information about children's capacities and developmental levels in their current period provides opportunities for experiences/activities to reveal children's strengths and support their continuous development and learning.

The purpose of this book is; Unlike traditional assessment approaches, it is to demonstrate how authentic classroom-based assessments can be carried out and how the information obtained from such assessment processes can be interpreted and used in curriculum planning that supports and encourages children's learning.

In its fifth edition, the book "Assessment and Support of Development and Learning in Early Childhood" has been reviewed and updated within the framework of rapidly developing appropriate evaluation concepts, expected educational outcomes, development and learning paths of young children, and the duties and responsibilities of early childhood teachers in evaluation studies.

The primary purpose of preparing this book is to inform mathematics educators, teachers and students about the technologies used in mathematics education and to provide opportunities for their effective use.
The secondary aim is to make the education community aware of the deficiency in the use of technology in mathematics education, to announce it and to try to eliminate it with some applications.
We hope that this work will raise awareness about the integration of technology into mathematics education, accelerate the development of software with Turkish interfaces and adapt existing software to Turkish, and be beneficial to the entire mathematics education community.
