Department of Mathematics Education

Prospective Student Information

Within the scope of the Department of Mathematics Education, two separate programs are carried out: Primary Mathematics Teaching and Mathematics Teaching. After graduation, students in the Mathematics Teaching program work as "Mathematics Teachers" in high schools, and students in the Primary Mathematics Teaching program work as "Mathematics Teachers" in secondary schools. Students who graduate with a bachelor's degree at the end of the four-year program can be appointed to schools as mathematics teachers, as well as enter Master's and Doctorate programs in the Mathematics departments affiliated with the Science institutes of universities or in the Mathematics Education departments affiliated with the Educational Sciences institutes, and become academicians in these branches. The vision of our department is to train teachers who have strong field knowledge and pedagogical formation, are researchers, can think critically, are self-confident and have universal teacher competencies.

Primary Mathematics Teaching and Mathematics Teaching Programs are accredited by the Teacher Education Programs Evaluation and Accreditation Association (EPDAD) until 15.5.2023. (Accreditation Certificate)
